Factor Structure, Validity and Reliability of the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale -12 (IUS-12) in a Greek Undergraduate Sample

Intolerance of Uncertainty (IU) is described as the tendency to avoid uncertain states and exhibit negative responses situations on cognitive, emotional, behavioral levels. It considered a transdiagnostic cognitive bias that plays role in developing maintaining psychopathology. The Scale-12 (IUS-12) has proven be sound measure intolerance uncertainty with excellent validity reliability. Although research supported two-factor structure IUS-12, most recent studies also suggest bifactor model. present study examines factorial structure, validity, reliability Greek version IUS-12 sample 959 university students (66.6% female) aged 19.63 years (SD = 3.20). Confirmatory Factor Analysis showed although solution adequately fit data, model better IU total an underlying one-factor. Internal consistency were for Prospective Inhibitory Anxiety subscales. Our findings support concerning scale’s psychometric qualities undergraduate sample. We expect future clinical samples will confirm screening utility IUS-12.
